New Releases – June 2013
Well! Looks like we have at least a few interesting games this month to help quench our Summer gaming thirst! Quite the surprise, really!
Remember Me (360, PS3)
Made semi-infamous by the eyebrow raising controversy surrounding dipshit publishers refusing to release games with female leads, Remember Me looks to be an incredibly pretentious mess…but it also looks to be a brawler with a female lead so screw it. I’ll give it a go.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)
Oi hey! It’s Animal Crossing for your 3DS! …personally I’d rather have another Magician’s Quest. That game lets you cross-dress and have gay relationships with anthropomorphic telephones. Who says videogames aren’t progressive!
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (XBLA, PSN)
After all these years, Shadow Over Mystara gets a home port! Huzzah! …and with online play? Double huzzah! To those unfamiliar it’s a 4-player co-op beat ’em up with RPG elements and branching paths based on Dungeons & Dragons. If you haven’t played this game yet, get this. If you have played this game, then you’re probably getting it anyway. This sucker is largely considered one of the best brawlers ever.
New Super Luigi U (WiiU DLC)
I don’t normally highlight DLC and I’m not even entirely sure of the nature of New Super Luigi U but dammit I like Luigi! Suddenly NSMB U is a lot more interesting to me!
Game & Wario (WiiU)
Wario Ware. Wii U. You know as well as I do that you want this. I want this. What little I’ve seen of it shows some wacky WiiU pad hijinks and Wario Ware is always fun! …also I’m desperate for something new to play on WiiU.
Project X Zone (3DS)
Where the crap is the hype for this game?! Effectively a sequel to Namco X Capcom and Super Robot Taisen: OG Saga: Endless Frontier (What? Reiji and Xiaomu were in both…along with KOS-MOS), this 3-way company cross-over turn-based action strategy game looks like a blast! If you’re unfamiliar, the hook is that it’s a turn-based strategy game where when you choose to attack you get to manually juggle combo the enemies. Think Valkyrie Profile’s battle system mixed with a strategy game. Valkyrie Profile meets Archon, perhaps? That’s sorta close. The point is, Hsien-Ko and Frank West can summon Bruce Willis. Also, X and Zero. Also, Classic Dante. Also why aren’t you preordering this game right now there’s a special edition, dammit! They should just call this sucker “Remember when Videogames were FUN: The Game”.
